The first trend of the year started when someone edited well-known basketball player Lamelo Ball and connected him with the song, “Doot “Doot (6-7)” – Skrilla. The song rocketed, and the part that says, “6-7” became a meme.
Millions of people quickly exposed the meme, making it become a part of everyday vocabulary. According to NPR.org, 6-7 became the word of the year and was added to the dictionary!
Commerical or Trend?
After a couple months, the season that many people look forward to, summer. During the transition from spring to summer, an advertisement for a UK airline was published.
The advertisement created a very catchy sound that stuck in many people’s heads. Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday… became the meme of the summer. On ABC News, it was shown that the meme came so far as to have its own segment in Good Morning America.
K-POP Demon hunters
Transitioning out of memes and into one of 2025’s most popular movies, is the animation of K-POP demon hunters. This animation opened eyes to the world, the movie being a fan favorite for all ages all over the world.
The songs and the plot really brought it all together. Based on IMDb ratings, the movie got 7.5/10 from 111k people.
Say your Stupid line!
Superman, a well known superhero became a part of a tiktok sound trend. The song ”The less I know the Better” by Tame Impala became a tiktok favorite sound based on the lyrics, so come one superman say your stupid line.
A person says a line a lot, which defines the meaning of the trend. “My stuping line would be,have fun”. Said Louis Grasso, the Athetic director at Colonia High School.
The trend caused many people to interact with one another and related to a stupid line they may say.
“My stupid line would be what” Said Ariana Sosa, a student at Colonia High School. It also brought up new lingo added to others’ day vocabulary.
Nike Techs or Quater zips?
Heading towards the end of the year the average male’s clothing style switched completely. Teenage boys would be known to wear Nike techs.
Quarter became the new nike tech and boys started to wear them giving them a more sophisticated look. The switch took over the internet and both males and females interacted with it.
Matcha or Coffee
Along with Nike techs and quarter zips the trend from switching to matcha instead of coffee began to spread. Going off of the sophisticated look boys began to drink a more professional looking drink.
What to expect from trends 2026
Although the trends in 2025 have died down, there are still many that are around, such as quater zips. Many people agreed with the switch from Nike techs to quarter zips. This trend has died down, but has changed the way boys dress. Going into 2026 many boys wear quarter zips even though it isn’t the talk of the town anymore.
